How Does SnoreRx Work
To understand how SnoreRx works let’s first look at why we snore.
There are many reasons but the main one is partial obstruction of our airway when we sleep. This is caused by relaxation of the muscles in the tongue, soft palate and uvula. The throat muscles also relax. This then restricts the airway when we breathe.
When we sleep the lower jaw also relaxes. This in turn causes the surrounding muscles and tissue to relax. Gravity causes your tongue to slide backwards towards your throat. Your airway narrows restricting air flow. As a result the air passing through vibrates and causes a noise. This is what we call snoring.
An MAD like this device aims to help lessen the restriction on your airways. It does this by moving the jaw forward and away from the back of your throat. This may also cause the tongue to move forward and open up the airway. This can reduce the air resistance that leads to snoring.
The incremental adjustments in SnoreRx allow it to be custom fitted. This may help to prevent you snoring. It comes set at the factory setting of 3 mm. You may not find this comfortable and need to change it.
Starting on a setting that is too high for your mouth can cause jaw pain. This can be prevented by using the right setting. Most snoring is corrected between 3-5 mm. It is advisable to start at the low end and work your way up. Adjust the device by 1 mm at a time.
The company suggests that you allow 3-5 nights at each setting. You will know when it is right. It will be comfortable and you won’t snore.
The company tells us that SnoreRx is the only mouthguard that can be adjusted in mm increments. It states:
The OAOSA recommendations to Medicare published on Nov. 11, 2010 stated that an oral appliance should provide the user the ability to advance the lower jaw in one millimeter increments at any time. Oral appliances that employ hardware, i.e. screws, wires, nuts, and bolts, can compromise user’s health resulting in broken or chipped teeth. Those devices that utilize rubber bands, springs, or torsion to force the lower jaw forward under constant pressure may result in pain and TMJ.

The company advises that most people do not experience any side effects. It may however cause:

- Excessive salivation.

Of the very many happy customers Joe U writes:
Works like a charm.. my Teeth were sore for a week, not that the guard was the problem. My lower jaw tried to pull back all night. I went from snoring like a Rhino to as quiet as a mouse . And my wife sleeps in our bed again. I tried to get my dentist to make me something like that but he never did .. so glad that found this.
People have also found the customer service to be very helpful.
Deborah C writes:
Awesome customer service. My first Snorerx had an issue around day 20 with the fit becoming loose on the top. I think I must have been grinding my teeth because the back inside sections on top flattened out. I could not do the impression again as it was just too flat. I called customer service and they arranged for me to send back my unit and sent me a new one. All happened within one week! Now I am looking forward to getting the new one going and begin sleeping again! This company is really top notch!!! Highly recommend trying them out!
Not everyone was happy with their purchase. Raysa R found the device too uncomfortable.
The piece is well-made. But it’s too bulky and uncomfortable to sleep on.. it did not take care of my snoring. However customer service is amazing. They really try to help me.
Some people have found that the device moves their teeth.
Zigmund M writes:
The product is OK, but it did not completely stop my snoring and I found after a week of use that my teeth seem to have shifted slightly. However they have come back to their position since I stopped using the product.
