What Is PhenTabz?
PhenTabz is formulated and sold by USA-based company Lexium International (Lexium International bought GenTech, the original PhenTabz company).
Lexium International makes non-prescription supplements for mental performance and weight loss.
The Lexium International website is very basic, and they don’t supply a lot of information about their supplements.
For example, they don’t have an ingredients list, and have vague information about the benefits, side-effects, and what the user should expect when taking PhenTabz.
After a little digging, it’s interesting that the GenTech owner was sentenced to 18 months in prison for using the FDA-banned substance DMAA in PhenTabz in 2017.
Needless to say, Phentabz no longer contains DMAA.
PhenTabz includes a proprietary blend (145 mg) of three key ingredients.
This is where things get very interesting, and you’ll see why.
Note that the amounts of each ingredient are not specified, so we don’t know how much caffeine each dosage contains.
The proprietary blend contains:
Synephrine is a substance found in bitter orange, and is similar to ephedra, an FDA-banned substance.
Synephrine may help to suppress the appetite, increase energy, and boost fat burning.
However, it may also cause heart issues such as high blood pressure and even stroke 3.
Octopamine is a stimulant that can be found in small amounts in the human body, and sources such as bitter orange.
It is very similar to synephrine (above), also found in bitter orange, and a very popular weight loss ingredient.
Octopamine works similarly to norepinephrine, an adrenaline-like substance in the human body that alerts the nervous system resulting in increased focus and energy.
Octopamine has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency since it is a stimulant, and it can cause heart complications such as high blood pressure and stroke 4.
Caffeine is used to boost metabolism and provide energy for increased exercise and activity during the day.
Plus, caffeine can have an appetite-suppressing effect which helps to cut out snacking and overeating 5.
How Does PhenTabz Work?
- Caffeine boosts metabolism for more efficient fat-burning, even at rest.
- Caffeine provides extra focus and energy for longer and more intense periods of exercise.
- Octopamine and synephrine spark the nervous system, causing an influx of energy and focus.
- Octopamine and synephrine boost metabolism and break down foods to use for energy more efficiently.
- Synephrine and octopamine may suppress the appetite, reducing caloric intake and preventing snacking or bingeing.
- Helps to curb food cravings.
- Helps to reduce overeating.
- Increases fat burning.
- Boosts the metabolism.
How To Use PhenTabz?
You take two tablets per day, one 30 minutes before breakfast and the other 30 minutes before lunch.
Due to the caffeine and synephrine content, it’s not advised to take PhenTabz after midday as it can negatively affect your sleep quality.
PhenTabz Side Effects
As customers have reported, PhenTabz can cause a racing heart due to the synephrine and octopamine content.
This is a common and expected side effect.
What’s more, the combination of caffeine and synephrine can cause sleeplessness and jitters for some people.
Possible side-effects include:
- Racing heart.
- Headaches and migraines.
- Jitters and anxiety.
Is PhenTabz A Scam?
No, PhenTabz is not a scam as it seems they are providing what they advertise in terms of ingredients.
There have been controversies in the past, involving the previous distributor and the use of DMAA.
However, this was solved, the company has since changed hands, and they no longer use DMAA.
PhenTabz Reviews & Complaints
It’s tough to find substantial collections of PhenTabz reviews on their official website.
The website seems to only post positive reviews, so it’s difficult to know what the overall real, unbiased experience has been.
If the reviews on the site are to believed, it seems that PhenTabz does lead to fast weight loss, for example:
“Only lost 5 pounds in ten days. Been on it for 30 days now. Why don’t you let real reviews be posted. Why only the really good ones and not the real ones.”
While this reviewer seems to be unhappy about their amount of weight loss, 5 pounds in 10 days is significant.
This reviewer also experienced weight loss, but are honest about counting calories and exercising to help the process:
“I had my doubts, as I do about most weight loss products, but this stuff really works. I have been taking these pills for almost 4 months and I’ve lost a total of 32 pounds. I have incorporated exercise and calorie counting ( I use an app on my IPhone ) along with these pills. My appetite was seriously cut in half. My only complaint would be that I always feel thirsty, but It just helps me drink lots of water.”
However, we did find reviews from verified customers on different sites.
These were more varied, with some customers expressing deep dissatisfaction and experience of side effects, for example:
“This is the worst product I have ever used, I took a tablet and then my started beating really fast, I started shaking and my hands were uncontrollable, I couldn’t concrete in work as my mind was all over the place, basically felt like I had taken a drug.. so it DOES have side effects! DO NOT RECOMMEND.”
Another customer found that they did lose weight, but they reached a plateau:
“I’ve been using it for the last 3 months and it seemed to work amazing at first, I lost 9 lbs in about two months and felt great, however, the last couple weeks it’s not doing much. Guess I’ll stop taking them.”

PhenTabz Pros & Cons
PhenTabz Review: Final Verdict
The prospect of fast, significant weight loss is very tempting.
However, it’s only healthy if the weight loss methods are healthy.
While PhenTabz may help you to drop weight quickly, the weight loss is unlikely to be permanent if proper lifestyle changes have not been implemented.
What’s more, PhenTabz contains questionable ingredients such as synephrine and octopamine, combined with caffeine.
This mixture comes with the risk of a racing heart, sleeplessness, anxiety, and jitters.
PhenTabz is very expensive, and the ingredients are far from well-proven to be effective, with much of the relevant research conducted on animals.
Therefore, we don’t recommend spending such a large chunk of cash on a supplement that may not work and may cause distressing side-effects.
If you do decide to give PhenTabz a try, we highly recommend that you speak to your doctor first.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, definitely do not take PhenTabz.
It’s important to seek advice if you are on regular medications or have existing health problems.
