If you’ve been taking pre-workout supplements since you found out about their awesome benefits, we bet you’ve seen it all.
Well, we think you haven’t seen this one: a pre workout with a bottle shaped like a shotgun shell.
We’re right, aren’t we?
It’s called 4 Gauge, a badass-looking pre workout supplement made by the folks at Roar Ambition.
Will this pre workout actually blow you away, or is it just an empty shell after all?
Read our 4 Gauge review to find out!
What Is 4 Gauge?
It will be hard not to look at 4 Gauge, not with that kind of bottle.
How many companies actually invest in making sure their products get noticed?
In making sure users will keep the bottles after using it?
That’s the kind of novelty a lot of mainstream supplements are missing and we approve of such marketing tactics.
- 6 g of Citrulline Malate. Right off the bat, it shows us it’s here to impress.
- Caffeine-Theanine combo. They know users love caffeine, but hate the aftereffect so they added theanine.
- Stress and mood enhancement. It’s not just for lifts and muscle gains, bro.
In addition to what we stated, the company is proud to claim the following:
Delivering the most effective, explosive and focused workout experience possible; 4 Gauge is the safest and strongest pre workout on the market.
Rigorously tested and researched by fitness professionals, 4 Gauge contains only the best natural nutrients on the market that command maximum performance from both your body and brain.
4 Gauge Ingredients
We like that 4 Gauge isn’t shy to show how much heat its packing.
Transparent labels mean the companies are brave enough to show what they can provide consumers.
The formula is also short enough for good focus on each ingredient which means each compound will hit you at their purest forms.
Now let’s get to the good stuff:
L-Citrulline DL Malate
We have six grams of this exciting vasodilator.
This compound is known for improving blood flow and nutrient uptake, makes you experience big pumps, blood pressure regulation, and improves performance in the gym1.
We conclude that the use of citrulline malate (CM) might be useful to increase athletic performance in high-intensity anaerobic exercises with short rest times and to relieve postexercise muscle soreness. Thus, athletes undergoing intensive preparation involving a high level of training or in competitive events might profit from CM.
L-Citrulline supplementation significantly increased plasma L-arginine levels and reduced completion time by 1.5 % compared with placebo. Moreover, L-citrulline significantly improved subjective feelings of muscle fatigue and concentration immediately after exercise.
Creatine
This is touted to be the most studied exogenous supplement, with literally hundreds of studies that attest to its benefits for the user.
Creatine is largely known for its recovery benefits, where it helps replenish muscle stores faster which helps the user lift just as strong, if not stronger, the following training day2.
In summary, the major finding of this investigation was significantly higher muscle strength after creatine supplementation during recovery from a muscle damaging exercise session.
Acetyl L-Carnitine
Not just for fat burning, this version of the famous fat burner is also able to fight fatigue, reduce cell damage (good for muscle gains!), and boost focus.
Since creatine as a preworkout helps provide energy, Acetyl-L-Carnitine as a fatigue buster complements it very well3.
Red Beet Root Extract
This ingredients is known for blood pressure regulation, stamina boosting, detoxification properties, and has some cool antioxidant benefits too.
As a preworkout, it’s main goal is to further improve the pump and sustain it for longer periods of time4.
Caffeine and Theanine
This combination is pretty smart. Caffeine, as we know, is a cheap and effective stimulant.
It can do wonders with your workout5.
The problem is, not everyone can tolerate its side effects which include jitters and crashes, which is why 4 Gauge included Theanine.
Theanine is a compound found in tea known for its calming and relaxing benefits.
What it does with caffeine is it neutralizes some of the side effects by making sure the energy you get from caffeine doesn’t come as a big spike, but as small and consistent upward curves.
This helps your body not only sustain decent workout energy, but also reduce the awful side effects if not totally prevent them.
Coconut water
Coconut water may seem an odd addition in a pre-workout, but it’s here to promote hydration and prevent electrolyte loss.
Rhodiola Rosea
This is a great adaptogen.
Adaptogens are compounds that specifically reduces stress while also improving focus, mood, and mental strength.
It might just help you overcome that max rep of yours6.
How Does 4 Gauge Work
4 Gauge is shaped like a shotgun shell, but acts like it’s fully loaded and ready to go.
4 Gauge is an intelligently designed pre-workout, loaded with really potent ingredients known for their gym-performance benefits.
Not only that, it made sure to have each one complement the other such as its creatine-red beet and caffeine-theanine synergy.
The synergistic nature of their formula allows each gram of 4 Gauge to count, with every bit of powder used up by the body.
When 4 Gauge really hits, it will make you want to gym harder than ever before. The makers of this awesome supplement really do know what they were doing and we like it.
As great as it is, we can’t help but also nitpick on a few things that could’ve been easily resolved.
First, the addition of sugar alcohols. We think they’re totally unnecessary in a pre-workout unless it tastes really, really bad.
It also has monk fruit and stevia, so why not just use them exclusively?
Another thing we can’t help but nitpick is the steep price.
We get it’s one hell of a premium supplement, but it’s price is premium among premiums.
We’ve seen other pre-workouts that work just as well, but offered at a significantly lowered price so we’re wondering what’s up with this price jump.
Regardless, we still love 4 Gauge and we think it will work on anyone who is willing to give it a shot (pun very much intended).
4 Gauge Benefits
4 Gauge does a great job of keeping its promises.
It boosts explosive power, increases stamina and mental focus, gets you pumped up. And improved training quality.
How To Use It?
Mix two level scoops of 4 Gauge powder in 10-12 fl. Oz./300-350ml of water or juice and drink 20-30 minutes before training.
Once tolerance has been assessed and you are looking for an extra energy boost, you can take 3 or 4 level scoops.
4 Gauge Side Effects
What we love about 4 Gauge is how it balanced its caffeine content with theanine.
Theanine’s presence will make it unlikely even for the caffeine sensitive to feel stimulant-related side effects such as jitters, headaches, and nausea.
What you should probably look more into is the inclusion of sugar alcohols such as Xylitol and Erythritol. These sugar alcohols have received mixed reviews from experts.
Some even maintain they may produce side effects (such as headaches and diarrhea) when taken in large amounts.
Is It A Scam?
It’s not a scam as far as our research tells us.
4 Gauge Reviews & Complaints
Here are some of the reviews we found. Let’s start with the negative ones.
Bjuice:
I’ve taken pre-workouts for over a decade. Taking breaks to de-sensitize myself. 4 Gauge provided decent energy and a nice pump. Unfortunately a very forgettable pre in a sea of many. I wouldn’t purchase it again due to the price however I’ve definitely had worse that cost more. Id rank this in the middle tier of what I’ve taken in my history. Good pre-workouts formulas don’t usually last on the market long. Something always winds up getting banned.
Vijay S.:
Initially I felt it was very powerful, but post 2 weeks I stopped getting the power although it keeps me energetic entire day and keeps me awake. But in terms of power lifting I don’t see much difference before I started using 4 Gauge except the initial 2 weeks when I was getting much power to lift heavy weights. In Fact I started getting severe muscle pain after lifting heavy weight later and hence I was forced to reduce the weight. I do use it to keep me energetic and active entire day.
There were some gems, though, and these came from verified purchases.
Gym Consulting:
4 Gauge is possibly the best pre-workout supplement in the market today. It is safe for the large percentage of the world’s population, depending on sensitivities and allergies and it produces great results within a short period. It boasts a perfect nutrient profile that provides everything the user needs in every workout. With most other products in the market, you will realize that they have higher caffeine content that inhibits the user from increasing the serving size.
The product’s ingredients increase energy levels in the body, therefore, helping the user perform best in the gym. In other words, the product will help you achieve your fitness goals faster. We recommend it as the best pre-workout supplement in the market today. You should be ready to experience increased focus, intense muscle pumps, and more energy during your workouts in the gym. Overall, you should expect a boost to your mood, energy, strength, and muscle pumps during your workouts. You will also build more muscle mass.
We firmly believe this is the best pre workout available, it literally blows all the other pre workouts out of the park. With a great clean taste and zero side effects it will simply give you quicker, better results allowing you to build muscle & lose fat. This is for anybody who wants a fast acting pre-workout to put themselves in an optimal state before performing at their very best.
Consumer Health Digest:
Most body builders either are not aware or completely disregard the essentiality of nutrition to a workout routine while most on the other part have a difficult time getting the right supplement. In this case, the 4 Gauge supplement is one of the recommendable pre-workouts products that one can seek to enhance* the performance of their workouts and thereby their workout results especially with the weight of information they provide for their consumers. The product makes such commendable product given as stated above, it does not cause jitters or energy crashes, it delivers on expected results, it is safe for consumer consumption and it increases* fat burning all the same.
Ricardo:
I was fed up of wasting my money on pre workouts that made me feel jittery or itchy. I’d nearly given up on them altogether. Then I heard about 4 Gauge.
What I love about 4 Gauge is that I get a clean surge of energy with a feeling of improved strength and focus too.
I’ve never performed better during my high intensity resistance training. I also now am addicted to the pump feeling it gives me.
Most pre workouts I’ve tried make it so I can’t sleep. But 4 Gauge provides the perfect balance of energy and focus. All this might sound too good to be true…but it’s not.
In terms of the ingredients inside they’re all natural. Which is crazy!
Also the taste is great. It’s just got a nice sour edge and mixes well too. If it goes clumpy like all pre workouts do for me, I just use a bit of water and a fork to mix first.
Overall I’d score 4 Gauge full marks. It’s worth every penny to not feel unwanted side effects but still get a ridiculous edge in training! Thanks 4 Gauge!
